Home > Naturana Soaps

Naturana is a line of soaps produced in Taulabé by the Honduras Rising association.
This initiative aims to launch an economic activity that can contribute to the sustainability of the association’s educational programs.

Its Story

Naturana began in February 2019 as a training workshop organized by volunteers from the association for mothers involved in Honduras Rising’s educational programs.

The pandemic halted the development of the project, and only two years later, in 2021, were the technical production processes resumed by coordinator Walter Erazo.

Gradually, formulation issues were resolved, and the process was refined. Honduras Rising began acquiring the necessary equipment for production.

Between 2021 and 2022, Walter gained experience, and new ingredients were tested.

In 2021, 2023, and 2024, four training workshops were held for mothers in Taulabé, San José de Comayagua, and at the Liberación school.

In 2023, students at the Liberación school launched the first soap sales experiment.

In 2024, volunteers helped build the soap brand, which was named Naturana.

In March 2025, official sales will begin under the final branding in San Pedro Sula, Tegucigalpa, Siguatepeque, Taulabé, and on Instagram.

Concept

Naturana is a dermatological soap with no synthetic dyes or perfumes. Priority is given to the natural color and fragrance of the ingredients. Its packaging is sober and simple, just like the soap itself and the purity of its ingredients.

The soaps are founded on the following values:

1.     Noble and Local Ingredients

A core pillar of this project is the use of noble and local ingredients. Honduras, with its rich biodiversity, offers a wide variety of raw materials that are carefully selected for soap making.

2.     Popular Wisdom as a Guide

The recipes and techniques used have been refined over the years through traditional methods that respect both the environment and human health.

The Art of Slow Production

Slow crafting is another hallmark of this process. Unlike industrial production, which prioritizes speed and quantity, artisanal soap making values time and patience. Each bar is carefully blended, molded, and left to cure for weeks, allowing the ingredients to fully integrate and the soap to develop its unique texture.

4.     Skin Benefits

The result is a soap that not only cleans but also nourishes and cares for the skin. The absence of chemical additives reduces the risk of irritation and allergies, making these soaps suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skin. Additionally, by using local ingredients and sustainable methods, the environmental impact is minimized, contributing to the preservation of Honduras’ natural resources.

Artisanal soap making in Honduras is more than just a business practice; it is a cultural legacy that celebrates our connection to the land and the community. Each bar of soap carries with it the history, effort, and love of those who made it, reminding us of the importance of valuing and preserving the traditions that shape us.

In conclusion, soap making in Honduras, with its focus on popular wisdom, noble and local ingredients, and slow production, is a clear example of how tradition and innovation can coexist to create high-quality products that benefit both people and the planet.
